Full Description

{1} A level 2 building recording survey was undertaken prior to conversion of two surviving ranges of barns to residential use. Originally, further buildings were present on the south-west side, but these have been demolished. Stockyards, divided by bricks walls lay in the central courtyard. The complex was probably built between c1860 and c1880. The surviving elements, all much altered apart from the store barn, suggest a self-sufficient farm providing living space for a small family and livestock. No evidence for any arable farming, since no stables remain. The surviving buildings are all constructed in brick with slate roofs. The two-storey farmhouse and full-height store barn occupy the north-eastern range. A new detached farmhouse was built c1930 and the original farmhouse was used for keeping chickens.
