Summary

A mill was recorded at Dallington at Domesday in 1086. In 1856, the mill was described as 'recently erected but little used'. The mill was disused from the late 19th century, but standing until at least the 1960s.

{1} 1086 Domesday survey records at Dailintone one mill rendering 20s (seems high if this is the mill on the sall Dallington Brook).
1284 Profits on the manor included a mill let to farm for the yearly rent of xlvi s viii d
1798 Militia Return records at Dallington one watermill capable of grinding 12 quarters/week
1856 Advertisement for a steam engine to be sold on the premises of Dallington Mill. Described as a'recently erected but little used.'
1863 Dallington Estate, including Dallington Mill, for sale by auction.
1876 Alfred Orton, miller at Dallington Mill, operating a milk round.
1885 No longer appearing in trade directories.
1960s Mill building still standing.
