Full Description

{1} 1736 Reference to a mill in Potterspury parish called Yardley Mill, formerly a corn mill and now a paper mill.
1791 William Hayes, papermaker, insured goods at Yardley paper mill.
1818 William Hayes, insured £75 on stock of paper and rags in his paper mill and drying shed adjoining house (brick and thatch), £25 on stock of paper and rags in a drying shed, not adjoining the before mentioned (stone and thatch).
1827 Auction sale of house and paper mill at Yardley Gobion 'fitted up with vats, presses, store rooms… situated on the River Tow. William Hayes was the tenant.
1841 Four papermakers listed in Census return for Yardley Gobion, presumably all employed at this mill.
1851 Paper mill at Yardley had one beating engine.
1928 Mill reported as demolished.

External inspection in August 2001. From a distance it apears that the leat from, a tail-race to, the River Tove have completely disappeared. It was impossible to see if there were any gound level remains of the mill itself. It is possible that there are some below ground level remains of this mill.
