Summary

Number 9 High Street and associated barn are believed to date from the later 18th century. The buildings have occupied the same footprint since at least 1885. The house is though to have been the Cross Trees Inn in 1880 and subsequently a butcher's shop. The building is constructed in local ironstone with a slate roof. The interior retains some beams and its quarry tile floor however the windows, door and window openings ahve been altered.

{1} Number 9 High Street and associated barn are believed to date from the later 18th century. The buildings have occupied the same footprint since at least 1885. The house is though to have been the Cross Trees Inn in 1880 and subsequently a butcher's shop. The building is constructed in local ironstone with a slate roof. The interior retains some beams and its quarry tile floor however the windows, door and window openings have been altered.

The associated barn was once used as a slaughterhouse and later a blacksmith. The roof coverings and chimney stacks on the house appear to be more recent additions. The buidling does not have sufficent architectural or historical interest to merit listing in a national context.
