Summary

Probable Iron Age or Roman rectilinear ditched enclosures and associated ditches visible as cropmarks in a single field to the east of Church Stowe. These enclosures are probably the remains of a settlement - the faint traces of at least one small ring ditch (possibly a hut circle) is visible within one of the rectilinear enclosures. The course of Roman Watling Street extends the length of the eastern side of the field, coinciding with the route of the modern road.

{1} Probable Iron Age or Roman rectilinear ditched enclosures and associated ditches visible as cropmarks in a single field to the east of Church Stowe. These enclosures are probably the remains of a settlement - the faint traces of at least one small ring ditch (possibly a hut circle) is visible within one of the rectilinear enclosures. The course of Roman Watling Street extends the length of the eastern side of the field, coinciding with the route of the modern road.
