Full Description
{1} An Iron Age/Roman settlement is visible as cropmarks on air photographs, at SP 9355 7842. A large rectilinear enclosure appears to define the extent of the settlement. Although only partially visible the enclosure is approximately 150m in width and formed by a narrow ditch. Within this enclosure are two round houses. The roundhouses are formed by a circuit of ditch and measure approximately 8m in diameter. Two small sub-square enclosures are visible at the southeast corner of the main enclosure, one of which appends the enclosure and the second is just to the northwest. Halfway along the eastern arm of the main enclosure is a 24m triangular enclosure, formed by a broad ditch, with a possible entrance to the west. A second identical triangular enclosure is located just outside the southeast corner of the main enclosure.
