Full Description

{1} Level 2 building recording was undertaken of two barns at Yew Tree Farm prior to conversion. Barn A provided stabling for four horses with a hay loft above and perhaps rudimentary accommodation above, with the upper storey being a later addition. The lower portion of the stable, constructed from coursed limestone rubble, may be mid to late 18th century in origin (the same date as the house, with the red brick upper storey probably mid 19th century. Further animal shelter was attached to the north.
Barn B was originally an asymmetrical threshing barn constructed in red brick while a linear structure to the south was designed as a pair of stables, possibly replacing an earlier structure. The south gable of the threshing barn may also be contemporary with the house. Subsequent extensions to the stables and barn may have occurred around the mid 19th century.
