Full Description

{1} Historic building recording undertaken prior to conversion for residential use. The building appears to have been built as a corn store and mill possibly in the late 1870s, likely by John Hobson Bearn. It is a brick-built two-storied structure with a façade of regularly-coursed stone, both ironstone and limestone. The roof is of pan tiles. The front elevation has four window opening, two on each floor; the upper windows flank a double-door loading bay. On the ground floor, there is a double-door opening in the south bay, perhaps for a cart, and a pedestrian entrance in the north bay.
There were few fittings still present at the time of the survey. Most were of 20th century date and related to the building's use by the building maintenance firm from c1945 until its closure in c2010. However, on the ground floor there were two suspended overhead flat belt-drive shafts (counter shafts) bolted to floor joists.
