Monument record 442/1/57 - Site of former engine house, Grand Union Canal

Summary
Engine house built c1805 to house beam engines. The Boulton and Watt engine was used to pump water back to the top of the lock flight. The engine house was replaced in the late 19th century and demolished in the second half of the 20th century.
