Full Description

{4} A small stone-built rectangular structure, set within its own small enclosure. The structure was square (c. 3.8m x c. 3.8m externally), with c. 2.8m square internal floor space. The latest surviving activity points to the structure having a small furnace in the south-east corner. This had a large flat stone as its base (likely reusing an in situ flue capping stone), surrounded by small clay-bonded stones. This area had a significant amount of heat-effected compacted clay, evidence for a floor surface. Within this a small metalworking lead droplet waste was recovered.
