Full Description

{1} Heritage assessment of The Old House. Probaby constructed in the early 18th century, the long, four-room plan suggests that originally this range comprised a pair of two-room cottages, each with a door leading from the north (street) side into a former kitchen served by an inglenook with an adjoining parlour. They are similar, though not identical, in size, the western cottage having a slightly larger former kitchen. Each cottage would almost certainly have had a small winding stair located on the south side of the inglenook wall leading to the first floor which appears to have similarly contained two rooms. Probably thatched originally. The uniting of the two cottages probably dates to the first quarter of the nineteenth-century.
