Full Description

{1} Heritage assessment of The Old House. The detached range of stables are indicated on the 1865 estate map, but cannot be confirmed on earlier maps. Only the north and south gable ends and the west side were observed as part of this survey. A datestone of 1608 may be spurious given that some of the stonework of the stable is Kingsthorpe White Sandstone which was only quarried from the 1760s onwards. It is considered that the stable probably dates to the first quarter of the 19th century. The southern gable was almost entirely rebuilt in 1974 by a local architect. Almost nothing of the original layout survives.
