Monument record 830/0/79 - Site of the former Parsonage House, south of St Michael's Church

The former parsonage lay immediately to the south of the church and was first documented in 1686, though the building may have been considerably older. It was replaced by a new rectory to the west (now New Creation Hall) around 1815 and demolished in the mid 19th century.

{1} In 1686 the recital of Glebe property lists 'The dwelling house containing about 12 bays…the tithe barn containing 8 bays, some…new. The hay barne, stables, granary, malt-house, 8 bays of old and some new building. The old brew-house..the new cart hovel. Dry hovels for cow houses and ..styes all along the south side of the yard.' In the 18th century the house was said to have 'six rooms of a floor' and later 'it consists of two parlours and the small stone parlour, an hall, kitchen, pantries, brew-house and coalhouse..'.

The house is depicted on the Inclosure Map of 1779.
