Monument record 1296/1/6 - Dispersed Site 2, Chelveston Airfield

The Second World War dispersed communal Site 2 for RAF Chelveston was visible on historical aerial photographs. They were originally the social and communal quarters for the airmen working at the airfield prior to the USAAF taking over in 1942. No buildings remain extant, but the footings of many of the buildings are still visible on the ground, despite dense vegetation which covers much of the site.

{1-3} The Second World War dispersed communal Site 2 for RAF Chelveston was visible on historical aerial photographs and was mapped as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project. Site 2 is centred at SP 99527 66908 and was originally the social and communal quarters for the airmen working at the airfield prior to the USAAF taking over in 1942. No buildings remain extant, but the footings of many of the buildings are still visible on the ground, despite dense vegetation which covers much of the site.
