Full Description

{1} Owner John Clare; appears to be first quarry in area but little is known of it's location; letter dated 8th April 1852 states that Mr.Clare was taking several hundred tons of ore & sending it to Staffordshire ironmasters; no record of when it ceased trading; only location of quarry seems to be an old site on south side of Towcester Rd about 300yds southwest of canal bridge where alongside the hedge is a clearly defined quarry face of about 10ft deep.
