Full Description

{1} Owners from 1852 on draft lease were G.E.Bevan & Co.Ltd. & from 1901 Exors of Pickering Phipps; quarry was not worked long & seemed to have closed just before WWI.; narrow guage tramway ran down hillside to canal close to Blisworth station; it is presumed that tubs loaded with ore were then lowered to wharf by a rope-worked incline; also possible that side tipping wagons running along a short wharf were used or even shovelling between wagons & barge; not known when system ceased but tramway not shown on 1900 6in.OS Map.
