Full Description
{1} Holly House, 7 Church Road is an early 19th century, three-storey red brick house which was associated with the Butlin family, wool merchants, who also owned Spratton House immediately to the north.
{2} Thomas Butlin's brother, Edward (born 1793 & brother of Thomas Butlin of Spratton House) lived in Holly House next door with his wife and daughter and continued with the family's wool trade interests after Thomas had diversified into iron and engineering. After a serious family disagreement, Thomas blocked up the gateway between the two properties and raised the low brick wall to a height of 12 feet.
