Full Description

{1} A building to the rear of 45 Bridge Street was recorded prior to demolition in 1975. Three phases were recognised. The earliest phase of building was dated to the earlier part of the 17th century, certainly pre-dating the fire of 1675, by its roof structure which included curved windbraces and the use of crossed purlins with horizontal seating from the ridge piece and the tie-beam construction. A first floor had been inserted after its construction. It is not known whether the building was domestic in origin or whether it previously extended to the Bridge Street frontage.
