Summary
Site of a maltings, which was also known as Elephant Lane Maltings, situated in Green Street immediately to the south of the Castle Brewery. It was constructed during the mid 19th century but after 1847 and was a three storey red brick building with an attic. It housed two kilns at the southern end, which had a double pyramind roof. The east and west elevations had eleven recessed window bays. A gabled roof at the north end had a slate covering. The Ordnance Survey 1938 depicts the maltings and disused and by 1964 it is depicted as a warehouse. It was later used as a restaurant but was empty by the end of 2005 and subsequently demolished.

Full Description
{1} Moocho Resturant was formally Elephant Lane Maltings. The building was constructed after 1847 and dates from the mid ninteenth century, the maltings had become disused by 1939. The maltings is a three storey red brick building with an attic. Two kilns are located at the southern end, with a double pyramind roof over. There are eleven recessed window bays on both the east and west elevations. A gabled roof at the north end has a slate covering. The interior of the maltings has been largely removed since its disuse.
{2} The building is depicted on the Ordnance Survey Edition of 1938 as disused and on the 1964 edition as a warehouse. The desktop assessment of the site carried out in 2005 states the building was no longer in use as a restaurant, describing it as 'abandoned'. It was subsequently demolished.
