Summary

An area of burnt limestone and clay was identified during fieldwalking survey and subsequently excavated, revealing the remains of a late medieval pottery kiln.

Full Description

{1} An area of burnt stone and clay was identified during fieldwalking survey and subsequently excavated by the Middle Nene Archaeology Society. The lower two or three courses of the limestone kiln walls survived as well as a central pedestal. The stoke-pit lay to the west. The kiln had been deliberately demolished and backfilled with rubble.
