Full Description

{1} A level 2 building recording survey was undertaken of the two surviving 18th-century buildings of the farm complex prior to demolition in advance of residential development. A level 1 survey was undertaken of the more modern farm buildings, comprising 20th and 21st century additions/ replacements.
The farmhouse is probably of early 19th century date, is two-storey, constructed of hand-made red brick possibly incorporating elements of an earlier non-domestic building depicted on a map of 1784 {3}. There is an extension extending westwards from the north-western angle of the early ‘L’-shaped plan, completing the developed ‘T’-shaped plan. A datestone of 1883 is partially visible.
To the south of the farmhouse is a stable with granary over, mainly brick-built but with areas of surviving rubble stone walling, suugesting it was originally a single-storey, stone-built range. Adjoining this building to the east was a former single-storey shelter-shed forming the southern side of the fold-yard.
Adjoining the eastern elevation of the farmhouse is a brick-built former barn, constructed in the mid-20th century, but replacing an earlier building on the same footprint. In the 1980s it accomodated the grain dryer and storage bins but had been subsequently been converted to domestic use.
The remainder of the farm buildings were of a more modern date and were recorded to Level 1.
