Please read our .

Summary

Two stone-built boot and shoe workshop or small factory buildings stand at the junction of Market Hill and Hospital Hill. One stands between the rear range of 1 Well Lane and some stone cottages to which it was later attatched. It consists of three low storeys, with walls of coursed rubble and has a three bay west front. The top floor may be a later addition contemporary with an eastwrds extension to the building in the early 1880s. A wide taking in door in the north gable may be a contemporary insertion. To the west is the second building a two storeyed three-bay workshop placed gable on to Hospital Hill on the north, where it has an 1877 datestone. The walls are of coursed rubble except that the east wall is brick. In the north gable a single window has been altered to create a taking-in door.
