Full Description

{1} Roman quoits and fragments of a Roman masked jug were found at Scaldwell and presented in 1928 by the Lamport Ironstone Co to Northampton Museum.

{2} Northampton Museum hold the fragments of the masked jug classified as 3c/4c Castor ware (depicting a women's head) and six ring loomweights (the 'quoits') of reddish clay. Sited to Scaldwell SP 769725. There has been much ironstone mining in this area and a precise site was not determined.

{3} Other finds from the parish include six circular Saxon loomweights of red clay and fragments of a C3rd or C4th jug with a moulded female face.
