Monument record 6904/0/31 - Medieval or post-medieval ridge and furrow

A single block of medieval or post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation, remnants of the former open common field system, is visible as earthworks on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data. Located on the eastern fringe of Ringstead parish, the block is adjacent to a probably contemporaneous linear boundary bank, both visible earthworks in 1947. Remote sensing data from 2009 and aerial photographs taken in 2018 show that these earthworks have since been plough levelled.

{1-3} A single block of medieval or post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation, remnants of the former open common field system, is visible as earthworks on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data and was mapped as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project. Located on the eastern fringe of Ringstead parish and centred at TL 00190 74988, the block is adjacent to a probably contemporaneous linear boundary bank, both visible earthworks in 1947. Remote sensing data from 2009 and aerial photographs taken in 2018 show that these earthworks have since been plough levelled.
