Summary

The reformatory school was opened in January 1856. It could accommodate up to 30 boys aged from 13 to 15. There were additions by 1880 and in the early 1900s and by 1908 the school could accommodate up to 100 boys. In 1925 it was renamed St John's School. The original buildings have since been demolished and replaced by the Gateway School.
