Summary
This small two storey heel factory stands to the rear of Malta House and Jamaica House, 81 and 83 Wellington Street and enjoys passage acess between 79 and 81 Wellington Street. At its south end a lower two storeyed range extends toa gabled frontage incorporating an entrance on Lindsay Street. The dates on Malta House and 59 Lindsay Street combined with evidence from the Ordnance Survey maps, suggest that the factory was built in the late 1890s.The main factory building has seven ground floor and four first floor windows to the east. In additon at the south end there is an entrance beneath a taking-in doorway, both facing the passage acess from Wellington Street. A painted sign on the south gable reads CAMPION HEEL MANUFACTURERS AND LEATHER MERCHANT ENTRANCE WELLINGTON STREET.
