Monument record 7335/2 - Possible Iron Age/Roman settlement, south of Thurning Lodge

Summary
Parts of Iron Age and/or Roman rectilinear ditched enclosures, possibly marking the site of a settlement, are recorded as cropmarks on EH Reconnaissance aerial photographs taken in July 2011 and on Google Earth aerial photographs taken in the 2006. An enclosure measuring 90 metres by 75 metres has its north east corner divided off. There are parts of two further enclosures, measuring 60 metres by 40 metres and 70 metres by 35 metres to the north east.

Full Description
{1, 2} Parts of Iron Age and/or Roman rectilinear ditched enclosures and boundaries, possibly marking the site of a settlement, are recorded as cropmarks on EH Reconnaissance aerial photographs taken in July 2011 and on Google Earth aerial photographs taken in the 2006. An enclosure measuring 90 metres by 75 metres has its north east corner divided off. There are parts of two further enclosures, measuring 60 metres by 40 metres and 70 metres by 35 metres to the north east. The most north-easterly is only visible on EH photographs.
They are centred at TL 0881 8174, TL 0893 8185 and TL 0892 8193.
