Summary

Built in brick c1790-1800. Extended after c1920. Portions of the east and west wings were removed in the 1970s. Refurbished in 1985 and altered in 2008-9.

Full Description

{1} Thorpe Lubenham Hall was built of brick between c1790-1800; the south front still has two generous semicircular bows. The east wing was added after c1920 by Sir Harold Wernher (along with other alterations). Viscount Kemsley bought the hall in the early 1960s. He removed portions of the east and west wings in the 1970s. The hall was refurbished in 1985 by architect Keith Cheng.Work in 2008-9 by Kavan Brook Shanahan architects included the addition of a Tuscan portico on the entrance front, balustrades added to the parpet and improvements to the east wing.
