Monument record 264/0/55 - Cropmarks of a possible post-medieval house, east of Little Street

Cropmarks of a large building identified on aerial imagery. It is not depicted on available historic maps, but its plan is suggestive of a post-medieval building.

{1} There does not appear to be a planning application so it shouldn’t be modern, and there’s nothing on the historic Ordnance Survey maps. The HER has earthworks of medieval enclosures (264/0/5). The outline is visible on the 2020 Google Earth photo, and there’s possibly part of it on the 2017 photo, but nothing visible prior to that.

{3} The cropmark 'looks like the plan form of a Georgian house with a central narrow hallway flanked by rooms on either side. The cross walls between the rooms appear to include chimney stacks and to the rear is what could be a short service wing. The left hand part of the assumed front seems to be bowed.'
