Full Description

{1} The archetypal K6 was designed by Giles Gilbert Scott (Battersea Power Station and Liverpool Cathedral) in 1935 to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Kin George V. The K6 is made of cast iron, painted red overall with long horizontal glazing in door and sides and with crowns situated on the top panels being applied not perforated.

Intact examples of K6 telephone kiosks will normally be assessed on the basis of group value and a strong visual relationship with other listed buildings and the setting. To be listable, a telephone kiosk needs to have a strong visual relationship with more than one listed building.

In this case although the Grade 2* listed Manor House is nearby, the kiosk does not have a visual relationship with it.

This telephone kiosk unfortunately lacks the special architectural or historic interest in a national context required to fulfil the criteria for listing.
