Full Description
{1} Trial trench excavation identified a small number of ditches in a single trench; these had not been identified during a preceding geophysical survey. Two of the ditches, both aligned east to west, were interpreted as possible 'planting trenches' whilst a third appeared to represent a large boundary ditch, although it was not identified in any other trenches, suggesting it may have been an elongated pit. A significant artefactual and ecofactual assemblage was recovered from the fill, including slag and fuel residue suggesting metalworking occurred in the near vicinity.
