Full Description

{1, 2} Drainage ditches or water channels of medieval/post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and were mapped as part of Historic England’s North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project. Located approximately 300m south west of Mountmill Farm, Wicken, Northamptonshire, and centred at SP 76070 37558. These ditches are between the course of the Grand Junction Canal and the River Great Ouse, cut into the floodplain and around areas of ridge and furrow earthworks. Similar earthworks are recorded on the south side of the river too. Underlying geology is Superficial Deposits of Alluvium and River Terrace Gravels, overlying Lias Group Mudstones.
