{1, 2} Extractive pit approximately 100m south of Mountmill Farm, Wicken, Northamptonshire
An extractive pit of post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of Historic England’s North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project. Located on the north side of the Grand Junction Canal, approximately 100m south of Mountmill Farm, Wicken, Northamptonshire, and centred at SP 76426 37574. The elongated pit measures 220x50m at its largest, it is on the north side of former the course of the Grand Junction Canal and is cut in to Superficial Deposits of Glaciofluvial sands and gravels overlying Lias Group Mudstone and Siltstone.
