Full Description

{1-5} A former trackway or woodland boundary of probable medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant levelled earthworks and was mapped as part of Historic England’s North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project. Located on the south side of Park Copse, within Wicken Park, Wicken and centred at SP 74185 38225. Sinuous earthworks are visible on 1940s aerial photographs and cropmarks show on 2017 image. This road leads to the earlier house in Wicken Park; Wicken Park Tudor House, but is not shown on the 1814 Ordnance Surveyors’ Drawing of Stony Stratford. Lidar visualisations shows very little trace of the earthworks; modern land use is arable by 1970. The 1940s aerial photographs show a plough headland continues the line of this road through ridge and furrow field systems further to the north.
