Full Description
{1-5} A road of medieval/post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks, levelled earthworks and cropmarks and was mapped as part of Historic England’s North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project. Located at on the north side of the A422, Wicken, and centred at SP 75495 38154. This routeway forms field boundaries on historic mapping but field amalgamation and arable land use has removed some of this evidence. It runs between the A422 towards Wicken Park. The Ordnance Surveyors Drawing of Stony Stratford shows it joins another trackway in Wicken Park. Fieldwalking as part of the Whittlewood Project recorded a concentration of medieval pottery around Bedlam Coppice and this area.
