Full Description
{1} Recorded in 1969 when the house was already derelict. Two storeys and attic with later part cellar. Built os stone with tile roof. The moulding of the beam in the north room and the nature of the former exterior in the rear of the house suggest a date of c1700 for the building. Original plan still discernable: three cells with entrance at rear of stack and between unheated service room on north and heated main room on south and with a further parlour also unheated beyond that on the south. To judge from the doorway on the south, the entrance was of some elaboration. Probably not heightened and probably always of two storeys with attic. In the early C19 the streetfront was re-vamped and refenestrated; the present stacks were built and fireplaces inserted in all rooms. It was probably at this time that the west wing an smaller service wing to the north were added, the present service stairs put in and the cellar added. In the late 19th century an ornate staircase was put into the west wing and a porch in a simialr style added to the south. [Also includes photographs of 31 and 33 College Street which have also been demolished].
{2, 3} The buildings were demolished between 1965 and 1971.
