Monument record MNN173506 - Probable Saxon or medieval field system, Collyweston

Slight earthwork remains of an embanked field system, possibly early medieval or medieval in date seen within the parish of Collyweston and mapped from lidar images as part of the Rutland Roman Villa Project. Visible as low banks, traces of these bank can be seen across the area, some appearing to lie beneath the traces of medieval ridge and furrow whilst others appear to be incorporated into medieval and later field boundaries or system.

Banks to the east of Collweston appear to have some common alignments with the fragmented remains of a probable Iron Age or Roman ditched field system (HER 1282/ NRHE 348151), suggesting some continuity with some of the boundaries through time.
