Summary
A piece of architectural stonework was found in 1900 on the site of the later bus station on Derngate. The stonework was of a stylised bearded male. It has been suggested that it was originally from the old gate called 'Castilian'.

{1} Photograph of a piece of architectural stonework featuring a stylised male head with distinctive beard. A note on the back of the photograph reads: Found on site of present in bus station in Derngate c1900. Although origin not known, Mr Brown suggests it may have come from the old gate called 'Castilian'.
