Full Description

{1} Archaeological Recording in C31059B identified two Roman cemeteries on the western and northern edges of the settlement. The western cemetery comprised a disperse group of burials that included seven inhumations and two cremation deposits. Dating to the late Roman period; burials included coffin evidence and a range of grave goods.
The northern cemetery contained fourteen inhumations of early to mid Roman date, some set within or adjacent to a segmented ditch enclosure. There was a mix of adults and non-adults and a good mix of male and female. There is evidence to suggest one of the inhumations may involve decapitation as well as a family grouping of burials.
