Full Description

{1} William Holt green moved his smithy from Kings Lane around 1875 to substantial brick and slate buildings behind his new house Montague Villa (now Labourne House). The business moved to the present PJ Green Garage (smithy demolished 1975) on the side of High Street. In 1940, these buildings were the main factory for Mary Channel (Great Britain) Ltd making casings for incendiary bombs etc.
