Full Description
{1} Archaeological trial trench excavation was undertaken in 2023 on the proposed pipeline route between the Draughton Waste Recycling Centre and the Brixworth Waste Recycling Centre. In the northernmost trench there was a ditch cut by a pit. The ditch contained middle Iron Age pottery and the pit contained metal, bone and Iron Age pottery. The construction cut of a shallow wall foundation contained both Iron Age and medieval pottery and it could not be established whether the Iron Age pottery was residual in a later feature or whether the medieval pottery was intrusive (or whether it was all residual).
