Full Description
{1} Painted advertisement on the north-west-facing elevation of the two-storey brick terraced building at 24 Overstone Road. The sign comprises black lettering on a white background, now faded to a light magnolia colour, within a black-bordered rectangular panel with indented corners. The partially legible inscription reads 'PHIPP'S ALES. RAT[LI]FFE'S [S]TOUT.'. The sign remains in good condition despite some flaking paintwork. The building has a tiled roof and remains in residential use. The sign is one of several advertisements associated with Phipp's brewery in the surrounding area and may indicate the former presence of a nearby public house.
