Full Description

{1} A line of three flat-bottomed fishponds, each cut down 2m into the valley floor. The two uppermost ponds are small and have been much altered by later activity but the lower one is larger, 120m by 50m. All have earthen dams up to 1.5m high. The ponds are filled by springs above the upper pond and water still runs from the lower pond down the valley towards the moated site which it once filled.

{2} Site visit 3rd July 1990. Upper pond is water filled. Middle one is drained. Both have been modified as garden features and of no great archaeological significance. The lower pond is partly in a pasture field and the strand line of the pond is visible. The lower part of the pond and dam are well preserved and substantial but have recently been planted with trees.
