Monument record 299/0/6 - Late Bronze Age hoard, Thenford Hill Farm

A late Bronze Age hoard found in the late 19th century at 'Thenford Hill Farm' during drainage works includes whetstones and a piece of wood probably from a spear socket.

{1} Drainage works at Thenford Hill farm in c.1872 recovered a Bronze Age hoard

{2} A late Bronze Age hoard found in the 19th century at 'Thenford Hill Farm' (about SP525438) contained two swords, four spearheads, two rings and other bronze objects as well as a piece of wood. Its exact findspot is unknown but it may have come from the vicinity of Arbury Banks hillfort.

{3} A hoard of objects belonging to the late Bronze Age (c.800BC) was found some time between 1881 and 1892. The hoard comprises two swords, four spearheads, a tubular terminal, two rings, two hones, and a piece of ash wood, presumably from a spear socket. The hoard is now in the British Museum.
