Full Description
{1} {27} Private excavation on the site of a Roman town in 1961. A trench cut through an earthwork of 'half playing-card shape' to the east of Blacklands. The trench was 16ft by 3ft by 4ft deep and contained a burial orientated north west - south east, and large quantities of Romano-British pottery.
{2} Excavation only observed and recorded by C. Woodfield. The earthwork is probably a headland.
{3} Trial trench across defensive (?) bank/ditch on AP - supposes fort - RB pottery and skeleton (N/S) on presumed ploughed down bank. Pottery scatter.
