A trench excavated ahead of an extension to the church car park revealed a probable medieval yard surface.

Full Description
{1} Limestone and pebble metalled surface. Stratified sherds within metalling from single vessel of c.1300AD. Other unstratified sherds of C13th also found. Other stone may derive from walling but not in situ. Probably from yard behind buildings fronting the main road. Some later tile fragments and several 18th century sherds not retained.
{2} Some large cobbles present in base of trench along with modern building rubble.
