Full Description

{1, 4, 5} (SP665791) The Rev Assheton Pownall exhibited a "celt of bronze" found on the estate of G Ashby, Naseby Wolleys, by a labourer employed in draining, at a depth of 2 feet. One end was chisel-shaped; the other, widening out, terminated as a small adze; 3 1/4 inches long, 1/4 inch wide

T J George lists a "socketed axe" in VCH, with no sub-reference but in his gazetteer refers to a bronze axe from Naseby.

It is assumed there was only one implement found at Naseby and from its original description it is probably a tanged bronze chisel.
