Full Description

{1} Elkington is first mentioned in Domesday Book where it is listed as three small manors with a total population of 17. However it is possible that one of these, the manor of Geoffrey de Wirce, with two bordars and described as part of his manor of Welford, was a separate settlement perhaps centred at Elkington Lodge (SP 645777).
