Full Description

{1} The earlier font was part of the base of a former churchyard cross. It has now been replaced near to the porch and close to its original location.

{2} The churchyard cross at Ravensthorpe stood to the south-west of the porch at SP66997032. It consisted of four steps and an octagonal socket with a piece of shaft. It was destroyed in 1860 except for the socket, which is now used as a font within the church.

{3, 4} The socket stone is at present kept on the floor in the south aisle. It retains its original shape but the socket has been enlarged to form a bowl. It is no longer used as a font. Photograph.
