Monument record 1160/167/3 - Medieval road surface, The Drapery

Four or five different road surfaces were identified in a trench in the central part of The Drapery in 1975

{1} Metalled road surfaces were recorded; also late Saxon & medieval sherds & leather offcuts & fragments.

{2} In central area of Drapery were found 4 or 5 road levels; lowest at 1.74m rested on natural; several medieval sherds & leather offcuts & few animal bones also found.
